From a Facebook post by Country Court care homes:
We are incredibly fortunate to have joined the YOPEY Dementia Befriender initiative in some of our homes this year ๐ Led by Tony Gearing MBE, this wonderful program allows young people to volunteer and offer companionship to care home residents ๐๐ค
The initiative has built strong bonds between our homes and local secondary schools, enriching the lives of our residents and providing Befrienders with valuable life skills ๐๐ก
Natalie Parnham, Home Manager at St Johns Care Home, said: โWe see first-hand the challenges families face when a loved one has dementia. Our residents benefit immensely from being in a supportive community and engaging in initiatives like the YOPEY Dementia Befriender Community Partnership.โ ๐๐ผ
Student Jack adds: โThe residents were very friendly and greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. This was nice because it made me feel welcomed and that they appreciated my time there.โ ๐
Thank you to all the YOPEY Befrienders for your dedication and for bringing joy to our residentsโ lives! ๐
Love the emojis ๐๐
